Making playtime safe

What is Poured in Place?

Poured in place rubber also known PIP playground surfacing is made mainly from recycled rubber. Essentially, it’s a rubber surface application poured on a playground instead of loose mulch, sand, gravel or other materials used to prevent injuries on playgrounds.  When installed its thicknesses depends on the fall height requirements for each unique playground application allowing optimal safety for anyone using the playground equipment.  Poured in place rubber playground surfaces are a durable 2-layer system.  The base layer consists of 100% post-consumer recycled Styrene Butadiene Rubber or SBR for short mixed with polyurethane.  The top layer consists of a recycled post-industrial Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer or EPDM mixed with polyurethane.  The thickness of the layers is determined after inspection of the playground to ensure all standards and safety thresholds are met or exceeded.   Our specialist at National Playground Surfacing can assist you in determining the needs of your poured in place application.  Contact us for further information.  We will gladly email you or call you with further information that you might need.
