About us

We are the leading experts in playground rubber surfacing.

National Playground Surfacing has over 20 years of experience in resurfacing. As our name implies, we specialize in playground surfacing. We pride ourselves in making play time safe for everyone. Pour In Place, also known as PIP rubberized surfacing and interlocking rubberized playground tiles are two applications that are used nationwide in all playgrounds to ensure the safety of all children. Better for you and better for our planet. Our products are non-toxic and also virtually odorless. They are safe for children of all ages and the environment. National Playground Surfacing uses materials from pre- and post-industrial and post-consumer recycled rubber. By recycling rubber, we save millions of pounds of scrap rubber from being disposed improperly and it also helps for an eco-friendly installed surface across all playgrounds.

All of our rubberized playground surfacing products are made with recycled materials, making the product environmentally friendly, durable and attractive. In addition to PIP rubberized surfacing, we also offer rubber tiles. Both applications are maintenance free options that offer years of durability and maximum protection from falls.

Our valued customers such as public school districts, civic organizations, government entities, private schools, churches, day cares, HOA management companies and more have trusted National Playground Surfacing with their playgrounds.

National Playground Surfacing

Experts in rubber tiles and rubber surfacing

Safety

Creating a safe playground environment for children is our number one priority. Critical Fall Height (CFH) refers to the impact attenuation or (shock absorbency) of a surface material and is the “maximum height from which a life-threatening head injury would not be expected to occur.” Naturally, this depends on the vertical distance between a play surface and the protective surface beneath it.

Visually Pleasing

The use of rubber playground surfacing is clearly a safer, more accessible option, but it’s also a more attractive one. Children love vibrant colors. With either pour in place or rubber playground tiles you can use a mix of colors and shades to create wonderful patterns and designs, thus making your playground more appealing to children while not sacrificing on safety and durability.

Environmently Friendly

National Playground Surfacing uses materials from post-industrial and post-consumer recycled rubber. By recycling rubber, we save millions of pounds of scrap rubber from being disposed improperly and it also helps for a more eco-friendly installed surface across all playgrounds.

Cost Comparisons

Sand and wood chip surfaces are easy to install, and cost less than rubber playground surfaces, but their maintenance and replacement exceeds the initial price tag overtime. Although rubber playground surfaces have a higher initial cost, their price is validated by the materials longevity and easy maintenance. PIP or rubber tiles offer improved safety and accessibility, providing additional benefits when choosing this type of surface over a loose-fill mater such as sand, wood chips, and gravel.

FAQ's

Poured in place playground surfacing offers almost unlimited design options. It comes in a wide variety of colors. Stencils and designs or even interactive games can be installed within this type of safety surface.

Rubber playground tiles come in pre-fabricated 2ft. x 2ft. pieces. They are available in several colors including red, blue and green being the main options. They can also be installed in a very attractive checkerboard pattern.

Safety should be your number one reason for considering using a rubberized surface such as PIP or rubber tiles for your playground. Rubber is a shock absorbent material that will make your playground a much safer place, aiding in passing all guidelines required.

The thickness of the rubber material will vary with every application. Different fall heights determine the surface thickness that is required under different pieces of playground equipment. However, every application requires 2 layers, the cushion layer and the rubber base.

Keeping up a playground surface can be a challenge and can get expensive if you’re adding yards of new wood chips every year. We are talking about thousands of dollars, depending on the surface area. Not to mention the cost of labor associated with having this done on a yearly basis. Rubberized surfacing is a sustainable playground surface that is not only safer but also eliminates the annual expense.

A newly installed playground rubber surface will last for years to come. However, in time, some basic maintenance may be needed. The amount of maintenance and possible repair work completely depends on the amount of traffic on the durable rubber surface.
